In 2014 we joined with the £bn Connect Group, formerly known as Smiths News. Connect brings us stability and a true global presence.

Connect Group purchased Tuffnells Parcels Express for £113.4m, an amazing success story when you consider that Tuffnells as a business has been around since 1914, started by Harold Tuffnell with just 1 horse and cart! At the time of purchase, Tuffnells operated a fleet of more than 930 vehicles from 34 depots, providing 10m deliveries a year to 4,200 customers across a range of industries.

The Connect Group saw something special within Tuffnells. Here's what Mark Cashmore, Group Chief Executive of Connect said during the acquisition.
"We are delighted to be announcing the acquisition of Tuffnells, which we believe offers significant strategic and commercial opportunities for the enlarged group. The addition of Tuffnells will see us broaden our reach into an area of specialist distribution which complements our core skills and competences of time sensitive distribution with high levels of service and efficiency".

Ever since the sale, Tuffnells has been a significant and important focus for Connect. The group has been focused not only on improving how Tuffnells works, but also making generous investments. In 2016, Tuffnells announced new plans for a brand new depot, as well as improved health and safety training, technology enhancements and increased features for customers.

The backing of the Connect Group is another great chapter in the diverse history of Tuffnells Parcels Express.
